How to make this site easier to use

To improve readability

This site is designed so that you can:

  • Make the size of the text on each page larger
  • Change the colour of the text
  • Change the typeface (font) of the text
  • Change the colour of the page background

You can do these things by making adjustments to your web browser, and exact instructions for doing this vary depending on which web browser you're using. The BBC provides an excellent web site (called My Web My Way) that gives you instructions for how to change the appearance of web pages, as well as other useful information on making web browsing easier. These instructions should work for the Wiz Kidz site and any other well designed site:

To improve getting around the site

If you are having difficulty using a mouse, or can't use a mouse, you can use the keyboard to navigate the site.

  • Use the Tab key to move from link to link. To select a link, press Enter
  • Use the Skip to main Page content link to jump directly to the main information on each page.

If you're still having problems

We've done our best to ensure this site is as accessible as possible, but it can happen that accessibility problems do arise despite our best efforts. If you do find any accessibility barriers that affect or prevent your use and enjoyment of the site, please let us know and we'll do our best to address the problem as soon as possible.

The technical bit...

Here's an outline of the technical work we've done to optimise the site's accessibility:

All HTML should validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict using the W3C markup validator. All style sheets should validate using the W3C CSS Validator. All pages should comply with our interpretation of all relevant priority 1, 2 and 3 checkpoints of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 , with the following comments:

  • Regarding Checkpoint 11.1 , we consider XHTML 1.0 Strict to be acceptable as a 'latest version' of a W3C technology
  • Regarding Checkpoint 14.2, the nature of our site is that it's mainly textual content, and thus we don't have many instances of graphical content to supplement our text. We will, though, make sure that our textual content is supported with graphical content wherever we can, if it helps understanding.
  • Regarding Checkpoint 10.4 , we have not provided "default placeholder text" in our forms.
