Wiz Kidz Green Policy

Wiz Kidz strives to reduce their environmental impact by reducing, reusing, recycling and buying recycled products.

Our job is to keep our little guests happy, safe and content. We take this responsibility seriously and by corporately "thinking green" we feel that our little guests will remain happy, safe and content even when they have little guests of their own.

Reduce

We aim to conduct as much of our business as possible over the Internet and email which reduces the need for paper files bringing us closer to the paperless office.
Where possible, we concentrate on our promotional materials being distributed electronically and made available on our web site.
Staff manuals and training information is provided electronically and through the use of a interactive online learning system which is made available to all staff. It is necessary to have ONE full paper copy of certain materials at the creche in order to ensure optimal care of the children present.
Where possible, Wiz Kidz do not use disposable items. For example, juice is provided in recycled cups.
Wiz Kidz constantly seek suppliers which distributed their items without excess packaging.

Reuse

All office materials such as folders and files are reused.
One sided printed paper is reused as rough paper for notes etc.
Other items such as envelopes, boxes, bubble wrap and carrier bags are reused where possible.

Recycling

All materials within our office are recycled, where possible, including paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, cds, printer cartridges, aluminium and steel cans.
In our creches, we strive to have the best quality toys available for our children. Where toys are no longer meeting the criteria set by Wiz Kidz but have significant wear left in them, they are recycled to local doctors surgeries and hospices.

Buying recycled

Where possible, we buy recycled products such as pens, folders, envelopes, paper, mousemats and coasters.
Even our business cards are printed on recycled card.
Where possible our promotional materials and corporate gifts are made from recycled materials.

Other information

Biodegradable. Ecover washing up liquid is used to wash up our cups after a creche. We are seeking to use a biodegradable sterlising agent!
Transport. Due to the nature of our business it is not practical to fully utilise green transportation. There are a number of additional ways though in ways we aim to reduce our effect. We currently have two main bases within Scotland and a host of bank staff available throughout the areas we serve. We always aim to staff events with the closest available staff.
Energy Consumption. Our computer have low energy monitors and use power saving procedures such as screen savers. They are switched off when not in use. We use the One Click Computer Mains Panel (available from Lakeland Limited -http://www.lakelandlimited.co.uk/product.aspx/!1614) so that when the computer is powered down all additional items which are plugged into the mains adapter are shut down.
